CCES-TUWB
Tunnel & Underground Works Branch of China Civil Engineering Society (CCES-TUWB) was founded in March 1979, and it became the member of ITA (International Tunneling Association) in the same year. CCES-TUWB is a mass academic society attached to China Civil Engineering Society. Its predecessor is Chinese Institute of Engineers established by the outstanding engineer in modern time of China, Mr. Zhan Tianyou.
At the early period of its formal foundation, the CCES-TUWB established seven specialist commissions: rock tunnel construction, shotcrete and rock bolt support & NATM, tunnel mechanics, underground railway, water proofing and discharging, underground space utilization, tunnel engineering. The purposes of CCES-TUWB are to encourage underground space utilization and development; promote development of the design, construction, management and maintenance technology of tunnel engineering. Its main tasks are to carry out academic exchange in home and abroad, to edit and publish scientific and technological books, to exert its specialist consultancy for China’s scientific and technological policy and economic build-up, to perform technical service and further education while being entrusted, to popularize knowledge and spread advance technology and to serve its member companies. The Standing Council of CCES-TUWB is now in its sixth session and currently attached to CRTG.
